Day 1.- PUNO CHIVAY – HOT SPRINGS WATER
The tour begins between 6:00 am. to 06:15 am from your hotel. Accompanied by a guide on board, there will be brief stops at:
- Lagunillas, for birdwatching of Andean species such as flamingos, Andean geese, and gulls.
- Patahuasi, an ideal spot to acclimatize to the altitude. At this stop, you can find small establishments where you can enjoy a hot coca leaf tea, a traditional infusion that helps combat altitude sickness and provides a sense of relief and energy. A technical stop for restrooms.
- Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you can observe and photograph llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas. The journey continues to Patapampa, also known as the Volcano Viewpoint, located at 4,910 meters above sea level. From this spot, you can admire remarkable snow-capped peaks, Misti, and other volcanoes.
Arrival in Chivay
Once in Chivay, you will check in at the selected hotel. You’ll have free time in the afternoon to enjoy lunch. At 3:00 p.m., the tour continues to the thermal baths or hot springs, where the thermally medicinal waters exceed 40°C. In the evening, enjoy a dinner with a traditional folk show.
Day 2.- CRUZ DEL CONDOR – COLCA CANYON – AREQUIPA
We will pick you up from your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. During the tour, you will enjoy the striking shapes of the landscape and visit the Colca Canyon, including:
- Cruz del Cóndor, where you can witness the majestic flight of the condors.
- Traditional and ancestral villages, such as Yanque, with its church dedicated to the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception.
- Local crafts and the representative Wititi dance of the Colca region. The return to Chivay includes a stop at Maca, where you will visit Santa Ana Church, featuring interiors adorned with altarpieces covered in gold leaf.
Lunch in Chivay, followed by the journey back to Arequipa, with an estimated arrival time of 5:30 p.m.
