Tiahuanaco Tour from Puno Full Day:

Early in the mornig at 07:00 a.m. We will pick you up at your hotel in the city of Puno. Then go through an asphalted road to the table-bordered town of Desaguadero (Peru – Bolivia) located 172 km. passing through the towns of Chucuito and Pomata, this trip takes about 2 hrs. and 30 min.

Reaching this place we have to do the respective immigration procedures. Once in Bolivia, the tour guide wil lead us to Tiwanaku, that is a urban center composed of administrative and religious buildings that surround some squares and platforms.

Once arriving the complex, the first thing to visit is Lithic Museum, later the Archaeological Site of Tiwanaku and its major ceremonial centers as: The Akapana pyramide, semi-subterranean Temple, Temple of Kalasasaya, The Sun Gate, The Puma Punku. The visiting time is 2 an a half hours, we have plenty of time to enjoy a typical lunch.

Return to Puno city by the same way in Desaguadero in private transportation. Arrival time is at 19:00.


What should you bring before entering Bolivia?

IMPORTANT:

  • Valid Passport: Your passport is the primary travel document and must be valid for at least six months.
  • Andean Migration Card (TAM): This document is issued upon entry to Peru and is required for exiting the country and entering Bolivia. It is essential to keep it in good condition. If lost, a duplicate must be obtained.
  • VISA: Some nationalities require a visa to enter Bolivia. It is crucial to check visa requirements based on your nationality before traveling.
  • Verify whether you need a VISA or PASSPORT for entry.
Additional Recommended Documentation:
  • Travel itinerary or return tickets.
  • Hotel reservations or an invitation letter.
  • Proof of financial solvency (bank statements, credit cards).

Recommendations: Carry a moderate amount of cash to cover additional travel expenses. At the Desaguadero border crossing, you will find various exchange offices where you can obtain Bolivian currency.

  • Extra money: Bring cash (Peruvian soles or US dollars) for purchasing local handicrafts. There are no ATMs at the site. It’s advisable to exchange currency for Bolivianos at the Desaguadero border.
  • Respect nature: Do not leave any waste behind. Bring a bag to collect your trash and help keep the environment clean.
