Titicaca Experience Kayak Uros – Amantani Homestay 02 days
Day 01.- Tour kayak Uros – Amantani overnight stay
At 06:45 we will pick you up from your hotel to go to Isla Esteves where our navigation begins. Here, the instructor will be waiting for us to tell us the safety instructions and give us the complete kayaking equipment.
Then we will paddle for 1 hour from the bay to the floating islands of the Uros. The guides will always be close by to help you to navigate in total safety and confidence. On the way you will have a spectacular view of the biodiversity of Lake Titicaca flora and fauna.
Arriving at the floating islands of the Uros, we will meet with the group. You have 1 hour and 15 minutes to share experiences with organized families who will give us a warm welcome, the tour guide will explain about the ancestral customs of the natives and the construction of their islands, if you wish you can ride on one of their reed rafts optional.
Then we continue our journey to Amantani Island, where local families will welcome us and provide us with their rustic house with basic services. After settling into the rooms, we will have a typical lunch prepared with local products.
In the afternoon we will walk to the top of the island (4130masl) to see the sunset and visit the ceremonial centers of PACHATATA and PACHAMAMA, two ancient Inca temples. After dinner, you can participate in the folkloric dances.
Day 02.- Amantani Islands – Taquile – Puno Tour
After breakfast with the family. At 08:00 we will board the boat to Taquile Island, to reach the square we will walk 30 minutes. In this place we will be able to observe the finest textile crafts of the locals. You will enjoy a typical lunch in a local restaurant, you will have free time for photography and shopping.
Then we descend to the port to return to the city of Puno. Arrival at 16:00 transfer to your hotel.
Day 1: Uros & Amantani – Cultural Immersion on Lake Titicaca
- 06:45 AM – Pick-up from your hotel in Puno and transfer to Esteves Island.
07:00 AM – Equipment reception and kayaking instructions.
07:30 AM – Kayaking to the Uros Floating Islands (1 hour), with opportunities to observe local flora and fauna.
08:30 AM – Arrival at Uros: exploration and cultural insights from a local expert guide on Uros traditions and experiential tourism.
09:45 AM – Departure by motorboat to Amantani Island.
14:00 PM – Traditional lunch at a local family’s rural home on Amantani.
14:00 PM – Hike to the Pachamama and Pachatata temples for a panoramic sunset view over Lake Titicaca (1 hour).
18:00 PM – Dinner at a host family’s home.
20:00 PM – Optional participation in local dances and festivities.
Day 2: Taquile – Textile Art & Scenic Beauty of Titicaca
06:00 AM – Traditional breakfast in Amantani.
08:00 AM – Boat departure to Taquile Island.
09:00 AM – Arrival at Taquile (north side) and hike to the Main Square. Cultural tourism and observation of local textile craftsmanship.
10:30 AM – Typical lunch at a local restaurant on Taquile.
12:00 PM – Return boat trip to Puno.
04:00 PM – Arrival in Puno and transfer to your hotel.

What to Bring for the Uros – Amantani – Taquile Tour
- Warm clothing for the afternoon, including a jacket, scarf, and gloves.
- A hat or cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection.
- Snacks (chocolates, candies, coca leaves).
- Bottled water or an electrolyte drink to stay hydrated.
- A camera with extra batteries to capture your experience.
- A flashlight if you plan to participate in the Peña Show in Amantani.
- A personal medical kit if needed.
- Altitude sickness medication (“Soroche Pills”) or coca leaves for chewing.
- Trekking shoes or waterproof boots for better comfort. If wearing sneakers, make sure they have good grip and thick soles.
- Rain gear: A high-quality raincoat and rain pants (only necessary during the rainy season from January to March).
- Extra cash (in soles or US dollars) to buy local handicrafts. There are no ATMs on the islands.
- Respect nature: Do not leave waste behind. Bring a bag for your trash and help keep the environment clean.

Tuvimos una buena introducción a la historia de las islas y a la vida allí hoy en día. El guía era perfectamente bilingüe.
Una experiencia inolvidable
Tuvimos la suerte de tener a Max como guía, una persona maravillosa y un guía apasionado y conocedor. Además de presentarnos los lugares que visitamos, nos contó mucho sobre la cultura y tradiciones de las distintas civilizaciones peruanas. Además, cuando tuvimos algún contratiempo, él estuvo inmediatamente disponible para ayudarnos y brindarnos asistencia. El transporte en autobús fue excelente y súper cómodo; Conducía Valentín, un excelente conductor y muy cuidadoso en la carretera.

We did a private tour with Richard as our guide and it was a wonderful experience. Having one on one time with him and a beautiful young family gave us an opportunity to ask questions and with his excellent English a better understanding of Peruvian life. A magical time.

Nuestra experiencia para 2 personas nos permitió hacerle preguntas a Richard y decidir cuánto tiempo queríamos quedarnos en cualquier lugar. Esto lo convirtió en un recorrido realmente especial. La información del guía personal es difícil de encontrar cuando se usa la aplicación. Tienes que desplazarte hacia abajo una vez que estás en la página de la experiencia y hay opciones adicionales para personalizar tu experiencia.
Richard was a wonderful guide.
I’ve read complaints about this trip being too many people or crowded etc and we didn’t experience that because we paid a little more ($30 USD) to have an experienced guide shepherd us on a private tour with a private boat. Our experience for 2 people allowed for us to ask Richard questions and decide how long we wanted to stay at any location. This made it a really special tour. The personal guide info is difficult to find when using the app. You have to scroll down once you are on the experience page and there are additional options to customize your experience.

The boat has a top deck that shows the best view. The guide is knowledgeable and speaks English and Spanish. We’ve absolutely loved the tour. Also, we were able to tour at our own pace as we got the private tour.

El barco tiene una cubierta superior que ofrece la mejor vista. El guía es experto y habla inglés y español. Nos encantó el recorrido. Además, pudimos recorrerlo a nuestro propio ritmo, ya que hicimos el recorrido privado.

La comida estuvo genial, es en lo que siempre tengo dudas, porque en estas actividades suelen llevarte a buffet libre que la comida suele ser malísima.

La comunidad de Uros es muy interesante aunque hoy en día ya parece como un teatro para los turistas y te quiere vender cosas industriales super caro. La caminata por la isla de Taquile es muy bonita con unas vistas preciosas. El almuerzo en el restaurante local fue fenomenal (sopa de verduras, trucha a la plancha o la omelete para los vegetarianos) – acompañado por una presentación de ropa y costumbres locales.
Fue increíble todo!

Muy bonito compartir con personas que viven felices, disfrutan y permiten que conozcamos su diario vivir. Aparte de la belleza y majestuosidad de paisajes . Fue algo realmente reconfortante. hermoso paseo.
El viaje y la experiencia muy bonita.
Solo no me gusto que en el viaje iban bebés muy chiquitos. Por una parte me parece peligroso y irresponsable por parte de los padres llevar bebés a un viaje así y por otro la agencia esta asumiendo un gran riesgo si pasa algo. Pero lo que me molesto en si es que los niños no disfrutan un tour así y tampoco dejan disfrutar a los demás viajeros. Muchas veces los padres no los saben controlar y nadie se atreve a decir nada. En este caso un niño estuvo majadero durante el viaje a los Uros y durante el almuerzo. La verdad uno trabaja mucho durante el año para coger vacaciones y no me parece justo tener que aguantar este tipo de situación.
